Inquiry Approach to Teaching STEM (Asynchronous Step 1) - Fall '24

Step 1 is an exploratory course for those considering math or science teaching as a career. The course is designed for participants to investigate classroom complexity, social justice, and specific STEM practices for teaching and learning. P articipants  will develop teaching skills through video analysis, lesson planning, enactment of a STEM lesson, and readings and reflections. Specifically, Step 1 orients  participants  towards inquiry ­based teaching approaches and considers questions of how students demonstrate their learning in specific classroom situations.

Course content will be delivered and work will take place via 6 primarily asynchronous weekly modules beginning on W 10/30, with a final deadline for all work of Tu 12/17.  Particpants are encouraged to access the Canvas page prior to the 10/30 start date in order to take advantage of opportunities to meet the instructor and become familiar with the technology we will use.  Enrollment will close on F 11/1.
